Your computer can check time settings against one or more of these computers and gradually adjust accordingly. These are special computers on the Internet that keep very exact time by various means. and and even are examples of public time servers that you can put in the manualpeerlist. W32tm /config /syncfromflags:MANUAL/manualpeerlist: In the command prompt type in the following line: To do this you have to use the command prompt and even poke around in the registry. This will work for most people, but what if the only 2 time servers specified in the drop list cannot be reached for various reasons, and you want to synchronize with an alternate time server, perhaps a time server found on your corporate LAN or elsewhere on the Internet?

If you’re not a part of a domain and still want to update your clock automatically, you can right click the clock found on the tray area on the lower right of your screen and choose "adjust time/date".Ĭlick on the Internet Time tab, then select the "Automatically synchronize with an Internet time server" checkbox. (%logonserver% can be used as a variable, but you can specify a DC name if you want). If you still want to adjust your clock (you shouldn’t because it might have adverse effects on some of your network connections and management tools) you can run the following command: The computer will automatically update it’s time by querying the PDC Emulator (usually the first DC n the domain). If your computer is a part of a domain (not possible in Home Edition) you do not need to do anything.

Some software can check the time with an outside source on the network or Internet and regularly adjust your computer by a few seconds so it never drifts so far off that you would notice. The computer clock will gradually get out of line with reality since it’s not a very accurate beast.

I`ve managed to access "smb.conf" file in telnet, but I don`t know how to use telnet. How can I update the clock on my Windows XP machine? Why does the clock always drift away from the actual time? It says someething about enable "oplocks" in SAMBA configuration file. I googled my problem and found this, but I can`t figure It out. (Windows platform) So I don`t think It`s a bug in the prog. I can use the "make folder available offline" program in windows xp to sync with other computers on my network.

Al Thanks for taking time to answer! I can access, copy and delete files and folders from Windows explorer. Recall that userid and passwords are case sensitive in the QNAP but are not case sensitive in Windows. If you can't then something is not right with userid and password. If you can do this using Windows explorer, then the bug is in the Winxp sync program. I tried to run it through Qnap Finder as you suggested, the exact same error message appeared.Īljimenez wrote:Can you display the directory in QNAP using Windows explorer (go to Network, find the QNAP and see if you can display the directory.) If the answer is yes, then try to copy a small file to the QNAP directory and see if Winxp lets you do it. My user Account in the Qnap has all the privileges.

Al My user account name and password for Windows are exact the same as for the NAS. This ensures that you enter the correct userid and password because the Finder asks you for it. Another way to get this done is to run QNAP Finder first, and use the menu command in the Finder to Explore the QNAP.

This happens when QNAP does not have a user and password account that matches your user and password account in your laptop, and the user account in the QNAP has all the privieges. This message appear: Offline Files(\\server_name\user_name (server)): Access to 'filename' is denied on \\server_name\user_name\folder_name. The problem is when I disconnect my Laptop from the network and do offline changes on the created folder, I get a error message when I connect my laptop to the network and try to synchronize with the NAS. the folder I synchronize is "paal" on ts-201.
